Opening a new Series. Starting a New Hobby the "Fear-Less" way.

๐ŸŒฟ Why Starting a New Hobby Can Feel So Scary (And How We Can Begin Anyway)

Hey sweet soul,

If you're anything like me, you’ve felt that spark… That little tug in your heart that whispers, “I want to try that.”

Maybe it was when you saw someone spinning their own yarn. Or a beautiful crochet project. Or a cozy journal spread on Pinterest. Something inside you said, “That could be me.” But then… the fear showed up.

The Fear That Follows Inspiration

Starting a new hobby should be exciting, right? But so often, what comes right after inspiration is:

  • Where do I even begin?
  • ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ What if I’m not good at it?
  • ๐Ÿ’ธ What if I waste time and money?
  • ๐Ÿ˜” What if it’s too late for me to start now?

These are the questions that have kept so many creative souls from even taking the first step. And I want to say this as lovingly and honestly as I can:

You are not alone in feeling that way.

My Story: From Hesitant to Honest

When I first began writing my own patterns, I was overwhelmed. I questioned every decision.

Did I explain that stitch clearly? Will someone understand this row? Am I even qualified to call it a pattern?

And when I launched my YouTube channel? Whew. Putting my voice, my face, my creative heart out into the world? It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done.

But I did it anyway. Not because I had no fear—but because I learned to move with it. Fear doesn’t always mean stop. Sometimes, it just means “go gently.”

Introducing: The Fear-less – A Series for the Tender-Hearted Beginner

This blog post is part of a new video series I’m launching over on my YouTube channel called:

Starting a New Hobby- The fear-less way!

This series is for anyone who wants to explore something creative but doesn’t know how—or is just plain scared to start. We’ll take it one small, encouraging step at a time. Together.

You don’t need fancy tools.
You don’t need to be “naturally gifted.”
You don’t need to have it all figured out.

You just need a little bit of courage—and a safe place to begin.

๐ŸŒผ What We'll Be Working Through Together

Throughout the Fear-less series, we’ll gently explore what it really means to begin something new—with kindness, patience, and a plan that fits your pace.

We’ll talk about:

  • ๐Ÿ—‚️ Creating a soft game plan for what you’d love to accomplish
  • ๐Ÿ’› Giving yourself full permission to be a beginner (and to enjoy it!)
  • ๐ŸŒง️ How to keep going when self-doubt sneaks in and tells you you’re not enough

And just maybe... I’ll share a few mistakes I’ve made along the way—because I’ve definitely had some bumpy starts. ๐Ÿ˜… But those moments taught me just as much as the wins.

This series is about approaching creativity with curiosity, not perfection. Whether you’re brand new or starting over, there’s space for you here.

Let’s Begin Together

So if you’ve been holding back… If you’ve been dreaming of creating something, but haven’t taken that first step… Know this:

  • ๐Ÿ’› You are not behind.
  • ๐Ÿ’› You are not too late.
  • ๐Ÿ’› You are exactly where you need to be.

And you don’t have to start alone.

๐Ÿงถ A Gentle Word on Perfectionism (From Shannon Talks Yarn)

If perfectionism is something that’s been holding you back from starting—or from enjoying the process—you are so not alone. Many of us feel like if it’s not “right,” it’s not worth doing.

That’s why I want to share a beautiful video from someone I deeply admire: Shannon from Shannon Talks Yarn – “Progress Over Perfection”

In this video, Shannon reminds us that what matters most is showing up—messy, imperfect, unsure—and moving forward anyway. Her words are a balm for the creative soul that struggles with pressure, and her presence is just as calming as her message.

If you've ever said, “It has to be perfect before I can start,” this video is a must-watch.

๐ŸŒŸ Coming Up Next…

In the next post and video in this gentle series, we’ll talk about something so many of us struggle with: Giving ourselves permission to be a beginner.

We’ll let go of the pressure to be perfect. We’ll challenge the idea that we need to “get good” fast. And we’ll explore how starting fear(less)
—with grace and curiosity—is more than enough.

I can’t wait to walk beside you as you begin your creative journey—softly, slowly, and with so much heart.

With love and gentle encouragement,
