๐ธ You Are Allowed to Be a Beginner
A love note to anyone starting something new.
Hey Sweetpea Friends,
Today, I want to talk about something I know a lot of us feel… but don’t always say out loud:
That fear of not being good enough to start.
The pressure to be perfect before we’ve even begun.
That little voice that whispers, “You should already know how to do this.”
If you’ve ever felt that way—whether you’re learning to spin yarn, starting a new homestead project, picking up a crochet hook for the first time, or diving into any new passion—I want to say this loud and clear:
You are allowed to be a beginner.
I had to remind myself of that too.
And in my latest Youtube Vidoe I opened up about how often I’ve felt like I needed to be polished, perfect, or “ready” before I even gave myself permission to try.
๐ญ What If We Just… Started?
In this season of life, I’m choosing softness. I’m choosing grace.
And I’m choosing to start—without knowing everything first.
Because the truth is… no one starts at the top.
Even the most talented makers, artists, and homesteaders were once beginners—fumbling, learning, laughing at their mistakes, and trying again.
I used to sit down at my spinning wheel and feel embarrassed that my yarn wasn’t “right.”
I wanted it to look like someone who had been doing it for years… when I was still in my first few tries.
But how silly is that? We would never expect a seed to bloom overnight. ๐ฑ
๐ฌ You Reminded Me, Too
After a recent video, so many of you left kind, vulnerable comments that said,
“I needed to hear this,”
or
“Thank you for the reminder—it’s okay to be new at something.”
You reminded me that we’re all walking this same road—just at different spots along the path.
And we don’t have to pretend we’ve got it all together. We just need to keep going.

๐ A Gentle Reminder
Whatever you’re starting—
however unsure or messy it feels—
please know this:
You are not behind.
You are not too late.
You don’t have to “earn” your right to begin.
Your journey doesn’t need perfection. It just needs you—showing up, trying again, giving yourself grace.
Let’s keep reminding each other:
“It’s okay to be new. It’s okay to start.”
And better yet? We can do it together.
With love and soft starts,
Cyd
